Bergman, Gross, Vetter nominated Dist. 28 legislative seats
The District 28 Democratic-NPL Party has nominated two candidates for the North Dakota House of Representatives and one for the North Dakota State Senate. They are: State SenatorAlan Bergman of Jud, and State RepresentativesIsadore Gross of Kintyre and Kristen (Agnew) Vetter of Linton. Bergman and his wife, Pauline, have four adult children and three grandchildren. He is the former President of the North Dakota Farmers Union and a past Vice President of the National Farmers Union. A graduate of North Dakota State University, Bergman has been involved in farm advocacy efforts for many years. He retired from the North Dakota National Guard after 23 years of service to his state and nation. People in District 28 urged me to take on this campaign, Bergman said. I accepted the challenge because of my belief that, by working together, we can make some positive things happen for our state. I believe my experience in leadership positions will help me be more effective as a State Senator. Vetter and her husband, Andrew, farm between Linton and Wishek. A graduate of the University of Mary, Bismarck, Vetter is a former music teacher and has experience as a business owner. The Vetters owned Beaver Creek Pumpkins, which included an annual pumpkin festival. She has a rural development background and has served in leadership positions with many organizations. Currently, she is a member of the boards of the Linton Hospital, Head Start and her church. I lived out of the state and chose to move back because of my love for North Dakota and the quality of life we have here, Vetter said. Friends encouraged me to run for the Legislature, and I feel ready for the opportunity. District 28 needs balanced representation, and I want to serve the people throughout the district. Gross is a life-long farmer in Logan County and owns and operates the family farm near Napoleon. Coincidentally, Democratic-NPL gubernatorial candidate Tim Matherns parents and grandparents were neighbors of the Gross family and Mathern was among those who encouraged him to run for the State House of Representatives. A 42-year member of the Knights of Columbus, he is active in farm organizations and has hosted international farmers and traveled overseas through the Friendship Force program, which promotes world peace through international friendship. The strengths I bring to this campaign are old-fashioned common sense and a strong farm and rural background, Gross said. There are many good things that can be done by the legislature, and I want to be part of a positive effort. The names of Bergman, Gross and Vetter will be on the June 10 primary election ballot, and they have said they are running as a team for the district. |
