
Area teams compete in Eureka Lions Track MeetH-M-B, Linton, Strasburg and Zeeland competed in the Eureka Lions Track Meet on April 29. Linton finished in 4th place in the Boys Division with 61 points, trailing South Dakota teams Campbell County (103), Groton Area (84) and Eureka-Bowdle (71). The Lions (Alex Deis, Zach Tesky, Terrence Vetter, Monte Deis) captured the championship of the 1,600-meter sprint relay with a time of 3:55.75. Linton also placed 2nd in both the 400 and 800-meter relays. Alex Deis was the runner-up in the 100-meter dash (:11.30), and Tanner Peterson was the runner-up in the triple jump (38' 3.5"). Vetter placed 3rd in the 1,600-meter run (5:00.08), Brady Weber placed 3rd in the 800-meter run (2:12.84), Zach Serr placed 5th in the 100-meter dash (:11.67) and Brandon Weber placed 6th in the 400-meter dash (:56.85) for Linton. H-M-Bs Matt Schumacher placed 4th in the 400-meter dash (:56.44), 5th in the triple jump (35' 11") and 7th in the high jump (5' 7"); while teammate Kaleb Thorp placed 8th in the 400-meter dash (:57.25). In the Girls Division, Carlene Ternes placed 3rd in the 300-meter hurdles (:50.65) for Strasburg, while teammate Kelsie Silvernagel placed 6th in the 100-meter dash (:13.69). Jessica Weiser placed 3rd in the 100-meter dash (:13.54) for H-M-B; Emily Scherr placed 7th in the 300-meter hurdles (:54.06) for Zeeland; and Tiffany Mosset placed 8th in the 400-meter dash (1:07.67) for Linton. The Lady Lions also placed 6th in the 400-meter relay, and 8th in the 800-meter relay. |
