
Hague is planning for Centennial in JulyPlans are being finalized for the Hague Centennial which will be held July 4 and 5, 2008. The committee met last Thursday night at the Hague KC Hall. Centennial Committee officers are Millie Wald, President; Dion Eberle, Vice President; Therese Wenninger, Secretary, and Robert Fischer, Treasurer. The tentative schedule includes: Friday, July 4 A tractor trek is being organized and will arrive in town prior to the 11 a.m. opening ceremony. Hagues own yodeling cowgirl, Kristi Goldade, will perform during the ceremony. The Strasburg School 8th grader has built a national following and does many performances throughout the year. Scheduled at 1:30 p.m. are street events, including games for kids. That afternoon there will be a Little Britches Rodeo. That evening the popular band Rocky Top will perform, and there will be a fireworks display. Saturday, July 5 The big Centennial Parade will start at 10 a.m., and entrants from the region are expected to make it a memorable event. Afternoon entertainment will include the Affon Lady, a magician and cloggers. That evening, humorist and famous rock star Mylo Hatzenbuhler will do a show. Music under the tent will be by Rocky Top, and Marv Sander will perform in the KC Hall. The raffle drawing for the four-wheeler will be held at 10 p.m. Concluding the weekend will be a church service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at St. Marys Catholic Church. The committee does not plan to hold a school reunion as part of the centennial. Many other events are being planned, and more information will be included in the Emmons County Record in the future. A variety of souvenirs have been ordered. |
