Emmons Co. will sponsor CERT training sessions

Sessions will continue for 4 weeks on Tuesday nights.

What is CERT? A CERT program trains people in neighborhoods, workplaces, and schools in basic disaster response skills, such as fire suppression, search and rescue, and medical assistance. The training helps residents take a more active role in community emergency preparedness. The teams are not intended to replace a community’s first responders but they serve as an important supplement to first response capabilities. Team members are trained to assist after a disaster before first responders are able to arrive.

Contact Shawna Paul at (701) 254-4486 or email at smpaul@nd.gov.; or Anita Ibach at (701) 254-4361 or email at anitai58@hotmail.com. for more information on becoming a CERT team member or to just take the class. Class size is limited to 15 participants and additional classes will be offered at a later date.

The CERT program in North Dakota is jointly sponsored by the North Dakota Division of Emergency Management and the North Dakota League of Cities, and it is free of charge to all participants.
